From Macro to Action: Translating Market Trends into Treasury Decisions

Interest rates, credit conditions, inflation, and shifting capital markets can dominate the headlines—but what do they actually mean for the decisions treasury teams make every day? This session moves beyond the economic outlook to examine how treasury practitioners can translate macroeconomic and market signals into actionable liquidity, investment, and funding strategies.

A market strategist and corporate treasury practitioner will connect the economic landscape to real-world treasury decisions, including how much liquidity to maintain, how market conditions may influence investment positioning, and when to consider different sources of funding. The discussion will explore how treasury teams evaluate financing alternatives for evaluating financing alternatives—including traditional debt, high-yield and convertible debt, and supply chain financing—while considering the impact of interest rates, credit conditions, liquidity needs, cost of capital, and risk. Through real-world examples, attendees will see how treasury teams can turn changing market conditions into informed decisions across the balance sheet.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Translate changes in interest rates, credit conditions, and other macroeconomic indicators into implications for corporate liquidity, investment, and funding decisions.

  2. Evaluate how changing market conditions can influence cash positioning, investment duration, liquidity levels, and access to capital.

  3. Compare funding alternatives—including traditional debt, high-yield and convertible debt, and supply chain financing—based on cost, flexibility, risk, and market conditions.

  4. Determine when market developments warrant adjustments.
